As studio owners, we are part teacher, part business owner, part design team, plus a whole lot more.  It can be a lot on our plate at times.  So, when a tool comes along that makes part of my job easier … I jump on it.

Today, I will be showing you a graphic design tool that I use extensively for this site as well as my studio.  It’s a tool for the non-design savvy as it is easy to create beautiful, engaging images with a few clicks of a mouse.

Canva: One Stop Design Centre

Below is a demonstration of how easy it easy to create a design in Canva.  While we have been talking about re-registration & enrolling new clients this month, I also know recital season is coming up for many of us.  With that in mind, I am showing you how to create a fun, whimsical recital program that is fully customized to your recital & students.

In this video, I have included my tricks on how to:

  • Make a fold program without a lot of fuss
  • Create images with simple shapes to add interest to the cover
  • Group images & text to easily copy them over & over
  • Change colours, as well as resize various elements (objects) within your design

(I am not affiliated with Canva in anyway, just love using their program & hope you love it too!)

As we prepare our registration packets, marketing materials, & recital programs, it’s nice to have a program that makes these tasks go a little quicker.

If you are a Canva fan, what are your favourite features?  Or, if you have a different go-to program, let us know about it in the comments below.

Have a great weekend & happy designing!
